Job Description

Role Summary/Purpose
The NOR Technician will assist design engineers in new product development, and with production support activities of Norwich components. The NOR Technician will work with minimal supervision and be responsible for build, test, and delivery of all engineering development hardware. Projects will predominantly be high speed permanent magnet alternators and other similar machines, power electronics and regulators, temperature sensors and probes.

Essential Responsibilities
The NOR Technician will interface closely with Design Engineers, Manufacturing, and Quality, to assist with the development and test of engineering and production hardware. Some of the Principal Duties & Responsibilities will include the following:

• Perform development duties, evaluation testing and failure investigation for the various products supported by the engineering team
• Be familiar with electronic circuit components and interpret electronic circuit schematics
• Design and construct special test set-ups and circuits required for development and qualification tests
• Design test fixtures and coordinate their build with the tool room / model shop
• Review customer and industry specifications
• Write and review test plans, procedures, and test reports
• Provide time estimates for cost of test and evaluation activities
• Record test parameters / results, and submit to engineering in an organized format; maintaining logs and records per department procedures
• Support development and production hardware build, including environmental and acceptance testing
• Assist in the development of related documentation, such as manufacturing instructions and service publications
• Assist in performing and documenting failure investigation of field returns
• Track hardware test status in test lab and/or ATP, and report status as required
• Perform cost reduction projects, and develop / implement lab automation

• Associates degree from an accredited institution, or High School Diploma / GED with minimum of 2 years industry experience

• Ability to travel as required

Additional Eligibility Requirement

Desired Characteristics
• Electrical Engineering background
• Advanced degree would be a plus
• Strong background using and developing LabVIEW code
• One (1) year professional industry experience desired
• Ability to influence and seamlessly work cross-functionally in a matrix organization
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
• Able to communicate with all levels of internal and external customer organizations, including upper management
• Knowledge of electrical assembly techniques (hand tools, soldering, etc.)
• Knowledge of basic measurement techniques and lab equipment for monitoring electrical, mechanical, thermal, and pressure parameters (oscilloscopes, data acquisition systems, programmable environmental test chambers, test controllers)

Side Notes-

Mon-Fri- 2 pm-11 pm (possible weekends- 1-2 times/month)
