Engineering Technologist II - will provide technical support and guidance with Transmission Compatible Units within the Maximo framework to be utilized in Transmission projects.
JOB SUMMARY
This is the second level of the degreed technical support role job classification.
Engineering Technologist II applies technical expertise to solve more complex problems and management skills to provide oversight and direction of work in a specific area of expertise, with some supervision. Incumbents are expected to develop deeper technical skills and the ability to work with an increasing degree of independence.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
With Some Supervision:
• Applies technical expertise in the identification, analysis and resolution of problems in area of expertise.
• Ensures accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring of work activities.
• Prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketches with some guidance.
• Conducts engineering and related studies.
• Strives to continually improve job-related, technical and professional knowledge, skills and performance.
• Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities., Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills. Maintains accurate records and files.
• Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Either a graduate from a college or university with Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology (or equivalent), or 2+ years of experience and Associate Degree in Engineering Technology (or equivalent), or 6+ years equivalent experience without a degree. Entry before described years of experience premised on management discretion over additional education or experience obtained.
• Performance Expectations: "Valued Contributor" or better in last APA rating.
• Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
• Good written and oral communication skills.

• A general to detail understanding of work methods, material, resources, tools, and equipment used for protection and control
• A general to detail understanding of work methods, material, resources, tools, and equipment used for transmission lines
• A general to detail understanding of work methods, material, resources, tools, and equipment used for distribution and transmission substations
• A general to detail understanding of the unit of property catalog (retirement units/units of property, property units, utility accounts, and FERC accounts)
• A general to detail understanding of how units of property are unitized and booked in PowerPlan
• A general to detail understanding of PowerPlan validation rules and what causes ARC (close) failures
• A general to detail understanding of CWIP, RWIP, CIAC, tax jurisdictions, and other information PowerPlan uses
• A general to detail understanding of Duke and FERC capitalization rules
• A general to detail understanding of capital work orders and O&M work orders
• A general to detail understanding of what accounting states require and what accounting is used in rate cases
• A general to detail understanding, or able to learn quickly, of CU hierarchy
• A general to detail understanding of how every piece of data in a CU is used by Maximo and other systems
• A general to detail understanding of Maximo asset templates, location templates, static and dynamic attribution, job plans, master PMs, and PMs
• A general to detail understanding of how the asset automation works
• A general to detail understanding of how all the design tools use CUs
• A general to detail understanding of TIM and how it performs integration between design tools and Maximo
• A general to detail understanding of Supply Chain processes associated with, Material Item Creation,  Material Item Storeroom setup and Material pricing
• A general to detail understanding of the following Maximo Applications, CU Library, CU Estimating, Work Orders, Item Master,  Item Request New/Change o Organizations o Service Items
• Experience in the utility industry.
• Understanding of basic principles of project management.
