Construction Quality Assurance Technician
The Construction Quality Assurance (QA) Technician participates in the development of project management plan(s) with quality in mind and analyzes project inspection data to identify trends in material and labor failures locally and companywide.
The QA Technician ensures that Inspectors are completing their inspections with a frequency that is sufficient to meet company and regulatory needs and consistently monitors the validity of inspection frequency.
The QA Technician is responsible for ensuring the quality and proficiency of a pipeline system through collaboration with construction project coordinators, inspectors, and other Quality Assurance Technicians to drive conformance to specifications.
The QA Technician summarizes data and presents it to members of management in order to provide trends and allow data driven decisions.
The QA Technician may verify the work of company and contract crews by checking calibration practices, OQ compliance, and document accuracy and construction procedure execution. Relying on inspection data and visual inspection, the QA Technician drives continuous improvement initiatives to resolve identified trends locally and across the enterprise. These initiatives could include meetings and focus groups with contractors, material suppliers, plant managers, and others involved in the construction value stream.
This is a Quality Assurance role that reviews the work completed by Inspectors and contractor installation crews. Qualified candidates should have basic knowledge and experience in construction practices and proficiency in Microsoft Office products. Additional skills and experience in Six Sigma methodologies, root cause analysis, and Gas distribution and transmission pipelines are desired.
•Ensures project inspection frequency in accordance with project schedule(s), quality and budget(s) meeting customer service goals (delivering a quality product, on time and on budget).
•Analyzes inspection data generated by front line inspectors and looks for trends or failures that warrant further root cause analysis.
•Identifies root cause of failures with contractors, material suppliers and internal team members locally and across the enterprise.
•Works with other Quality Assurance Technicians to develop metrics and maintains a schedule for consistent updates to those metrics
•Monitors suppliers and contractors quality assurance and quality control programs
•Reviews/audits as-built drawings and all items required to close out project(s) for accuracy and reports on deficiencies needing attention.
•May inspect or audit contractor and/or company crews in the installation of pipeline facilities in accordance with the Engineering Manuals (i.e. Regulator Stations).
•Measures and analyzes the timeliness of documentation/records including quality assurance of OQ compliance and the collection of project paperwork.
